Fire Victims Need Public's Help To Save Horse Facility

RIVERSIDE COUNTY -- Jasmine Ferrari is a good Samaritan who runs a rescue facility for horses.

Now, she's counting on the goodness of others to rescue her.

"We did lose all of our tack," she said. "We lost dog food. We lost cat food -- everything we had on the porch."

The porch erupted in flames early Wednesday morning. Fire officials say the fire started in the electrical box.

"All of a sudden, I hear this loud popping noise," she recalled. "At first, I thought it was the horses kicking the corral."

Family friend Mark Fredericksen was sleeping in the home. "I hear Jasmine screaming, 'Everybody has to get up! Run! Fire!'"

Ferrari's facility known as "Love Thy Horse" is located in the 67-000 block of Club House Dr., south of Desert Hot Springs. The facility has seven full-size horses, two miniature ponies, three dogs, and several hens.

Ferrari says she became frantic when firefighters kept her from rescuing the animals.
